July 4th Festivites

Thursday, July 8th, 2010
We had a great 4th of July weekend. Brooks had such a great time all weekend, but especially at the baseball game and fireworks (or “boom” as he called them).
We spent time with family, went to a movie, ate lots of good food, stayed up late, grilled out, and celebrated a late fathers day. It was a great relaxing weekend. Brooks was so tired, he took an almost four hour nap Tuesday.
Brooks enjoyed eating cotton candy at the game. He liked all the clapping and yelling. By the end of the game he was putting his arm up and yelling “charge!”
He got to run the bases with his Poppa after the game and fireworks. He was so happy, his little legs were running as fast as he could following Poppa. He liked it so much they went around twice.
Hope your weekend was great, too. Stay tuned tomorrow for a nautical necklace DIY.

hair cut today

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010
Today I gave Brooks his fourth hair cut. It was waaay past time. This is the before picture, above.

The handsome man after, above. He was so good while I was cutting it. He sat on the table and squirted himself in the face with the water bottle. Not too shabby for giving my second hair cut, if I do say so myself (ha!). Just don’t look too closely! My mom gave him his first two cuts, but he was so crazy and naughty the second time, she doesn’t seem to be available now when he needs one. Hum, seems fishy to me. So, out of necessity I can add barber to my resume. Who is next?

This picture is just for the cute cheeks. They are so kissable.

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Summer

Monday, June 21st, 2010
Today is the first day of summer. The picture above is of Brooks one year ago today. He was just sitting up on his own. Now, one year later…
…He is running around all over the place. We got this octopus sprinkler last year and we broke it out this year. He really likes it. The first day we got it out he kept touching it and saying “oohh”.
With our fair skin we get sunburned really easily, so I slathered him with so much sunscreen he was white (well, whiter than normal!). With all the sunscreen in his hair it was spiked out like crazy. He was so cute and had such a great time.

Happy Summer!

Birthday craftiness from my husband

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010
I want to share with you the cutest cupcake toppers and banner that Mickel made me for my birthday. Isn’t he creative? He drew out little fantasy buildings in Illustrator, printed them on cardstock, cut them out and attached a toothpick. He also made a banner that said “Happy Birthday Nikki”. I am so proud of him. It was so thoughtful and fun. I love him.

First time playing in the rain

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010
Tonight Brooks had his first time playing in the rain. It was raining lightly and the sun was out. He was so happy and we had a great time.
He is now an outside guy. He never wants to come in. You can see our sidewalk chalk being washed away under his feet.
Hope you are having a great day!

Week Update

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

We had a busy week last week and I did not get a chance to post anything. My little guy had his first trip to the emergency room. He fell and bit into his lower lip. He was really upset at first, but by the time the doctor got in to see us, it was as if nothing had happened. He survived. You can see his injury (bottom lip) in this picture:

We also took a day off and went to the Zoo. Brooks really didn’t care about the animals. He spent all his time picking up rocks and kicking up dirt. He is all boy. He did get to touch a kangaroo. They did not act like I thought they would. I thought they would be jumping around everywhere and hyper, but they were really lazy. They were all lounging around and they had droopy eyes and faces like a Bassett Hound. Their fur felt like you were petting a rabbit. Very soft.
We were also able to go to a T.E.A. Party rally on tax day. It was exciting. Dick Morris was the speaker.
Finally, Friday was our Fifth Wedding Anniversary. In some ways it seems like five years have flown by, but in other ways it seems like we have been together for a lifetime (in a good way, of course!).

We took a fun three day weekend. It was hard to leave our little guy behind, but also a good time to get away. While we were gone I always felt like I was missing something since I didn’t have to pack around a 26 pound cutey and all his supplies. He also had a good time away with his Mimi and Pops. I’m not sure he even missed us that much. Maybe he needed a break from us!

Happy Fifth Anniversary Mickel, here’s to many, many more!

Snapshot of Easter 2010

Mark 16:6
We had a lovely Easter weekend, I hope you did too. Here is a snap shot of our weekend – full of fun, relaxation and family time. Most of all a heart of remembrance and thankfulness for the death and resurrection of Christ.

Easter 2010

I meant to post the downloads for the brunch I hosted, recipes and “how to” for homemade bunny peeps and birds nest, but I never go to it. I will have to post next year. I hope you are having a terrific Tuesday. My little guy is feeling good as new and we are enjoying playing outside in the nice spring weather.

April is here!

April 2010

Happy April Fools day! I have no funny jokes to play on anyone. I tried to think of something clever, but my brain is zapped out today. We have a sick boy and he has been so unhappy. I feel bad for him, this is his first time to be sick. He has had a temperature the past two days and wants me to hold him every second. I really like how much he loves me. I am soaking it in as long as it lasts!

Download this free calendar for April to jot down your appointments, bills due, or anything your fingers want to write. Stay tuned tomorrow for some fun Easter treats and ideas.

Flowers in the snow

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Saturday, on the first day of spring, it snowed 10 inches. We went outside and measured it ourselves. Can you believe it? My flowers had just come up, so I am not sure if they will survive. Today the high was 57, so it has quickly melted. I am so happy to move onto spring!

The long hiatus is over… I hope!

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for spring. Our bulbs are sprouting up in the front yard and we have had a couple of warm weather days. Spring is on its way.

I apologise for the long hiatus. We have been out of town off and on and our business is booming, which is a great thing, but I have not had time to post. This week I am hoping to resume.

This past month, my little guy has turned into quite a little pickle and he has been getting in a bit of trouble. He climbs up on every surface he can and pushes the boundaries to do what he knows he is not supposed to do. He had a minor surgery, but all went well and he is on his way to good as new. I think the experience was harder on me than it was on him. Besides being upset when he initially woke up, he just wanted to play. We had lots of jello and ice cream and had a fun weekend playing around.

Hope you have a great last week of February and enjoy this last part of winter. Next on to Spring!
