Easter tree ornament part 2

Thursday, March 25th, 2010
Now for part 2 of the Easter tree ornaments. This time I am making an egg ornament to go with the cross ornaments.

Materials needed:
scrap paper for pattern
patterned or colored paper (you could also use white or colored paper and apply stickers)
scissors
glue
glitter
coordinating ribbon

helpful, but optional:
paper plate(s)
wax paper
bone folder
cutting mat

Make a pattern with scrap paper. I used an egg and traced around it for my pattern. Cut three shapes for each ornament you want to make.
Glue two sides of two of the egg shapes first, then glue the third piece to the other two pieces. Leave an opening at the top and bottom to string the ribbon through. Let dry and trim the edges if any of them overlap.
If you want to add glitter, apply glue around of one side of the ornament. Sprinkle generously with glitter. Shake off the excess, then apply glue to the other side. Sprinkle generously with glitter. Let dry. Repeat for third side. (I used a paper plate to contain the mess.) Transfer to wax paper to dry completely.

Thread the ribbon through the top and bottom of the ornament.
Pull the other side of the ribbon through the top of the egg to form a loop at the top.
Pull the loop to the desired size to hang. Tie a knot or bow at the bottom of the egg.

Hang on your tree and enjoy!
